Thursday, January 29th, 2009

rsc_spoiler“It” finally arrived!! A package today from Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin Sock Club My first ever sock club kit!I am so excited by this. The wool is gorgeous - My Blue Heaven - and the beautiful pattern is called “Queen of Beads” designed by Sivia Harding. The beads get knit into the socks…YIKES!! Up to know all I’ve done is plain knitting…I think I’m going to need help with this….

Special Delivery!

The kit also included some “extras” - button, keychain, sticker, and stuff for the binder - which is all VERY, very cool indeed….

This is going to be my year to sock soar…………

woolgirl sock club 2009Yes! Earlier this week I found out about the Wool Girl 2009 Sock Club…I’m happy to say that I am now registered for that one. So, with their delivery months being Feb, April, June, August, Oct, & Dec….AND with BMFA delivery months of Jan, March, May, July, Sept. & Nov….That means there will be a sock kit arriving EACH and EVERY month of 2009. Does life get any sweeter?

What’s on my needles

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Just prior to quilt retreat last week I cast on some brand new Opal Harry Potter yarn…I think that these socks will be for myself, or if my daughter, Justine, falls in love with them, they’ll be hers. Okay, so the colourway is “Tonks”. I have no idea what “Tonks” is/means. I’ve only read one Harry Potter book, and that was because it was on my course list for Children’s Lit. I’m also waiting for some other Opal HP yarn - Harry, Larry & Moe…well, not really those three - one is Harry, not sure what the other two are.

Sock #1 almost done!

Opal Harry Potter "Tonks"

The pattern is very nice - most of the gals at the quilt retreat were impressed with the design. I love self-striping/patterning yarn!

On another set of needles is a Regia striping, mannish-colour sock - for my husband, Erwin, of course. Those have been on the needle for quite a while now.

"Manly" Regia

I get bored with the mannish-colourways - and the less-than-exciting patterning. Plus, the darn mannish socks are 8 more cast on stitches and 3-4 inches more of knitting - well, when you put it that way, it doesn’t seem like so much - but when I’m working on them the boring pattern seems endless.

Eureka!

Got an email today from BMFA saying that my membership is complete and that I got an “approval”. This is definite then….I am IN for the Rockin’ Sock Club 2009 Notorious Sock Knitters World Domination Tour!!!!!!!!! Life is sweeet…
